On this scarf is Ellesmere Island: part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut with the most northerly point of land in Canada. Inhabited since about 2000 BC, its current population is less than 200. On this scarf is an image of phytoplanktons blooming made up of millions of tiny, light-reflecting organisms growing in the sunlit surface waters of the Barents Sea.
